Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 will return to the Dominican Republic in August for a five-day residency and two performances presented by Fundación Sinfonía.
The 89-member youth orchestra, made up of teen musicians from across the United States, will perform after a two-week training residency at Purchase College, State University of New York, and a July 30 concert at Carnegie Hall.
Conductor Mei-Ann Chen will lead the ensemble with violinist Tessa Lark as soloist. The program includes music by George Gershwin, Ottorino Respighi, Gabriela Lena Frank, Arturo Márquez and Michael Torke.
NYO2 is scheduled to perform Aug. 2 at the Gran Teatro del Cibao in Santiago and Aug. 3 at the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito in Santo Domingo. The trip marks the ensemble’s second visit to the Dominican Republic, following its international debut there in 2023.
