Almería province approves construction of new music school in Vícar

The Provincial Council of Almería officially approved the construction contract for a new music school in Vícar, a major infrastructure project intended to expand music education access across the region. Diariodealmeria.es reported that the facility, designated as the Vícar Cultural and Musical Training Center, represents one of the largest investments in the council’s history, with total costs exceeding 4 million euros shared between provincial and municipal governments.

Located next to the IES Puebla de Vícar secondary school, the four-story building will feature 25 specialized classrooms capable of accommodating more than 500 students. The curriculum design includes dedicated spaces for wind, string, piano, and percussion instruction, alongside rooms for music theory and solfège. Engineers prioritized acoustic isolation between classrooms to ensure an optimal learning environment free from sound interference, while the entire structure will meet universal accessibility standards.

Provincial Council President José Antonio García Alcaina described the project as a commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for all residents in the western area of the province. Vícar Mayor Antonio Bonilla noted the school would operate with a conservatory approach, offering training activities for all age groups. The facility will also include a library-phonotheque and both interior and exterior performance spaces for student concerts and community events.
