A 36-second video featuring all 600 members of the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band has generated more than 5.3 million online views since being posted Oct. 23, according to bgindependentmedia.org.
The video was a collaboration between the university’s Office of Marketing and Communications and the Falcon Marching Band, described as America’s largest college marching band. The band had just 24 hours to learn the choreography before filming, the outlet reported.
Director of marching and athletic bands Jon Waters said students were thrilled to participate and that the project reflected continued momentum for the university. The video’s success caught the attention of Surkin and Romain Gavras, the French producer and director behind the original ‘Storm II’ music video, who commended the coordination involved with 600 students.
Choreography was led by Bailey Weaver, a social media strategist and former BGSU cheerleader, who blended moves from the original video with moves the band uses in performances. The video required no reshoots.
The outlet reported that the band was also selected to perform in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, where it will make history as the largest band ever to participate.
