The Korea Herald reported that BIEK Global Arts Week 2026 will give young Korean classical musicians a chance to perform before faculty from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) during a week‑long program in Seoul.
The event, organized by British International Education Korea and About Classic Group, runs July 27 through Aug. 1 at the Rode Arts Center in Seocho‑gu. Its centerpiece, the RNCM Seoul International Piano Competition, is open to students from elementary school to university as well as adult amateurs, and RNCM professors will judge alongside leading Korean pianists.
RNCM, which ranked fifth in the 2025 QS World University Rankings for music, will hold preliminary rounds on July 27‑28 and a final on July 31. Winners in each division will appear at an Award Winners Gala Concert on Aug. 1.
Master classes led by RNCM professors Simon Callaghan and Graham Scott are scheduled for July 29‑30, and the two will join Korean pianists Yoo Jae‑kyung and Kim Yoon‑ji for a faculty recital on July 30.
Participants who wish to apply to RNCM will receive priority scheduling for an undergraduate or postgraduate audition on Aug. 1, with successful candidates offered admission, according to organizers. BIEK said the program aims to link talented Korean musicians with international educators and may lead to an RNCM campus in Korea, though no concrete plans have been disclosed.
