The Bihar government has approved an increase of 111 music teacher vacancies for Classes 9 and 10 following concerns raised by students regarding the limited number of posts. The Times of India reported that Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced the expansion after the department received multiple representations noting that only two posts had initially been designated for the subject.
This adjustment brings the total number of vacancies under the Teacher Recruitment Examination 4.0 to 33,385. The education department plans to forward the revised requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission, which administers the recruitment process. The decision follows recent protests by teaching aspirants who demanded changes to the examination structure and vacancy counts.
In response to the agitation, the state government also agreed to conduct the recruitment exam in a single phase and established a committee led by a Patna High Court judge to examine issues concerning the conduct of recruitment examinations. Minister Tiwari emphasized that authorities aim to notify total vacancy numbers in advance moving forward. He stated that the government would consider every reasonable demand and address concerns through dialogue rather than agitation.
