Four pop and jazz vocal students from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National School of Music and Dance Arts in Burgas performed with the Burgas Big Band at the first national forum for city ideas, Gradolyubiteli, on Oct. 9 at the Flora Exhibition Centre, BurgasMedia reported.
The student singers were Dimitar Ivanov, Samuil Milkov, Viktoria Sidorenko and Mariana Simeonova, according to the report. Anastas Kamilarov conducted the orchestra, and teachers Sonya Puleva, Mihaela Teneva-Michelle and Denitsa Yordanova prepared the students for the performance, which was part of the forum’s discussion panels and awards ceremony.
The event brought together civic groups, local authorities, businesses and urban planners from across Bulgaria, along with speakers from Austria and Romania who shared practices for renewing urban environments. The forum follows the six-year-old Gradolyubiteli initiative, which supports people with ideas for changing their cities, and this year involves the newly created Institute for Urban Ideas.
BurgasMedia said the forum focused on sustainable city development, with presentations of initiatives from Bulgaria and abroad, short project pitches and networking opportunities. Winners of the sixth Gradolyubiteli contest were due to be announced later the same day.
