Todo Alicante reported that CaixaBank, collaborating with the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community (FSMCV) and the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), has opened applications for the twelfth edition of its scholarship programme. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the financial institution increased the fund by €20,000, reaching a total of €275,000 to ensure economic circumstances do not hinder musical training.
The grants are available to students enrolled in FSMCV network centres, covering up to 90 percent of tuition and subject costs with a cap of €500 per student. Selection evaluates academic, economic, and social aspects, maintaining an extraordinary five-point bonus for students from schools in municipalities affected by DANA. Applications remain open until Oct. 5 on the federation’s website.
Since launching in the 2014-2015 academic year, the programme has invested more than €3 million, benefiting 8,841 students. The latest edition supported 576 students across 167 musical societies. This initiative operates within a broader Valencian ecosystem comprising 546 federated societies, 600 educational centres, 60,000 students, and over 5,000 teachers. The musical societies were declared a representative manifestation of intangible cultural heritage in March 2021.
