The Professional Conservatory of Music Andrés Segovia of Linares has entered a new phase with Carmen García Godoy leading its management team, Info Linares reported. García Godoy formally assumed the director position on October 5, following eight years of Esteban Ocaña Molina at the helm.
The transition preserves much of the prior governance structure and signals continuity in the institution’s artistic and pedagogical project, according to Info Linares. The new leadership aims to strengthen academic excellence, methodological innovation, communication with families and the conservatory’s presence in Linares’ cultural life.
García Godoy, previously a member of the center’s academic management team, holds a doctorate from the University of Jaén and is a tenured professor of Transverse Flute on leave of absence, with experience in educational organization, Info Linares reported.
The new direction identifies student training, updated teaching methods and ongoing dialogue with families as priorities, while keeping the conservatory connected to local and provincial institutions. García Godoy expressed respect for prior work and excitement for a chapter where the educational community remains central, describing a center that is dynamic, rigorous and open to all of Linares society, Info Linares reported.
The limited renewal allows the new team to handle daily management without interrupting existing academic and cultural programs, according to Info Linares.
