About 100 Chaska High School band and choir students traveled to Spain for a spring performance tour that combined three concerts with visits to Barcelona, Valencia, Toledo, Segovia and Madrid.
Carver County Local News reported that students rehearsed during school intervention periods and on weekends before the March 26–April 3 trip. The program schedules an international tour approximately every three years.
The 2026 journey also marked a return to Spain after the program’s planned 2020 trip was canceled during the pandemic. Chaska ensembles have previously traveled to Germany, Austria, Italy, England and France.
The program illustrates the long planning horizon required for international school-music travel: ensemble preparation, family commitments, documentation, transportation and multiple performances must be coordinated well before departure.
