The Chelsea High School Concert Band, an ensemble of more than 40 students, will perform at Disney World in spring 2027, the Chelsea Record reported. The performance is scheduled for the AdventHealth Waterside Stage at Disney Springs.
Concert Band Director Shannon Chick and Coordinator of Fine Arts Pete Pappavaselio submitted auditions to Disney’s Imagination Campus, according to the report. The audition materials included performances from last spring at Six Flags and the annual Arts Night Out event at Chelsea High School. Students learned of their selection in a class announcement last week.
The trip follows last March’s Disney Springs performances by the Chelsea High School Jazz Band and Cantare, which combined for a nearly 20-minute set featuring Disney songs. In addition to performing, Concert Band students will participate in educational workshops led by Imagination Campus staff and explore the theme parks.
Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta expressed pride in the students and gratitude to music educators and Senator Sal DiDomenico for helping make the opportunity possible. DiDomenico secured funding for both the upcoming Concert Band performance and last year’s appearances, the Chelsea Record reported. He visited the school on November 2 to speak with students and hear them play.
