The City of Leeds Youth Orchestra performed in Barbastro during a 2026 tour of Spain, extending an international-travel program that the ensemble treats as part of its students’ musical development.
Cadena SER Aragón Oriental reported that the orchestra brings together approximately 70 musicians ages 13–18 through ArtForms Leeds. Its tour repertoire included Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol.
The orchestra toured Germany’s Rhine region in 2024 and completed a residency in Giggleswick in 2025 before returning to Spain in 2026. The ensemble is approaching its 60th anniversary in 2027.
The Barbastro engagement demonstrates how host-city reporting can document international youth ensembles beyond their home markets and make educational performance travel visible to local audiences.
