The Country Music Association’s Keep the Music Playing Campaign Funds Public School Music
The Country Music Association (CMA) Foundation has donated $1 million toward music education programs for Nashville public school students, part of CMA’s Keep the Music Playing campaign.
The donation stems from CMA’s 2013 Country Music Festival and raises the organization’s support of metro schools in Nashville to more than $7.5 million. The funds have been used for the purchase of musical instruments and supplies through a partnership with the Nashville Public Education Foundation.
“CMA is extremely proud of being able to provide access to instruments for every child in Metro Schools on behalf of our artist community,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA CEO. “A thriving music education program is an investment in the future and provides important motivation to keep children engaged and in school.”
The donation was announced January 28, 2014 at the CMA Theater in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, during an event hosted by EMI Nashville’s Eric Paslay, who also performed.
