College Station, Texas – Two of the region’s leading high school marching bands kicked off their annual March‑A‑Thon fundraisers on Saturday, marching through local neighborhoods to collect donations for their upcoming seasons, according to a report from KBTX News 3.
The event, described by organizers as one of the most important fundraisers of the year for both programs, aims to help cover the $775 band fee charged to students at A&M Consolidated High School and to provide financial assistance to those in need.
Band directors emphasized the importance of booster contributions, noting that every dollar supports expenses ranging from socks to instruments. Despite high summer temperatures, students have been rehearsing early in the morning outdoors and moving indoors during the hottest parts of the day to stay safe.
College Station High School director Jonathan Seal said the indoor air‑conditioned space has been a welcome relief for his students, while A&M Consolidated director Steve Fry reminded participants to monitor their health and take breaks if they feel light‑headed.
Both directors encouraged residents to watch the marching routes and cheer the students, saying audience support motivates the performers to give their best effort.
