The Music Department at the University Center for Art, Architecture and Design (CUAAD) within the University of Guadalajara will host the second National Meeting of Choral Conducting Students from May 14 to 17. As reported by udg.mx, the event invites students, academics and the general public to participate in activities designed to strengthen testing programs and procedures while promoting exchange and constant research among those interested in the technique.
Activities will include workshops, conferences and concerts held across various venues, including the CUAAD Music Department, the Alarife Theatre and local temples such as Santa Teresa, San José de Gracia and San Francisco de AsÃs. The gathering aims to foster the development of choral music education at the national level.
Featured speakers include Cuban director Rodney Frometa Bring, who brings over 15 years of experience leading educational and religious choirs alongside his research into musical pedagogy. Also presenting is Patricia Morales Becerra, a recipient of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Medal for her pedagogical work. According to udg.mx, nine Mexican institutions currently offer undergraduate programs in choral conducting, with an additional master’s program available at the Universidad Veracruzana.
