The Drum Corps International Tour Premiere in Detroit on June 20 once again delivered an incredible beginning to the 2019 Summer Tour – for live audiences both at Ford Field and in 500+ movie theaters across the country. It was the first of two live broadcasts to cinemas nationwide this season to let fans feel the thrill of marching music’s very best through carefully-orchestrated live productions of the shows as they happen in real time.

For this fifth year of the tour premiere event, more than 35,000 fans experienced the debuts of six of the top world class corps. Once again, the corps raised the bar for innovation, creativity, athleticism, and performance excellence, promising another amazing year of increasing intensity of competition as the tour progresses.

The Bluecoats edged out the competition, taking the night as they revealed their production of “The Bluecoats” for the first time. Carolina Crown was a close second with their first presentation of “Beneath the Surface.” Coming in third, the Boston Crusaders added more intrigue to the night and delivered more competitive quality with “Goliath.” Scores were very tight among the top-ranked corps in every caption, setting the standard for a phenomenal season.

Also joining the tour premiere event for the first time, the recently launched DCI News Network broadcast live both before and after the premiere with live interviews and behind-the-scenes features.

The new platform allowed even more fans to get their first glimpse of corps and share in the excitement of opening night, providing more ways to bring Marching Music’s Major League to more people. You can follow the DCI News Network on Facebook, YouTube, and DCI.org to get backstage access to all kinds of stories from the road.

As the tour continues to march across the country throughout July into August, audiences can experience the magic of DCI all along the way by attending events close to their hometowns and by watching webcasts of select events on FloMarching.com. Big shows, big sound, big venues.

Then when it comes time for the DCI World Championship Prelims on August 8, DCI’s broadcast team will present this year’s “Big, Loud & Live” from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, showcasing the 15 top-scoring corps on movie screens all over the United States. Find the location of the closest theater event to you at fathomevents.com.

Stay on top of all the action complete with the latest scores at dci.org as the corps continue to amaze us night after night. DCI’s 2019 Summer Tour is now. Don’t miss a beat!
