Dubai is preparing to introduce its first accredited Bachelor of Music programme, with SAE University College Dubai accepting applications for a three-year course beginning in September 2026, The Economic Times reported. This educational initiative supports the UAE’s goal for the cultural sector to contribute 5 percent of GDP by 2031.
The curriculum is designed for students specializing in contemporary and electronic music, covering songwriting, production, performance, and music business. Educators will guide learners through artist management, contracts, intellectual property, and creative business development within classroom settings. A distinct feature of the programme involves training students on artificial intelligence tools used in audio engineering and songwriting, while addressing complex issues regarding copyright and originality.
Students will gain access to professional-standard studios for practical training and complete major production projects during their final year. The degree was developed with industry partners including Melody House and Muzikminds to ensure relevance for emerging ensembles and solo artists. Licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the programme operates under the UAE’s quality-assurance framework. Applications are currently open for the 2026 intake, with scholarships available up to Dh50,000 for eligible candidates.
