Selected students from Felpham Community College and Selsey Academy participated in an interactive singing workshop on October 15, hosted by a representative from the performing arts charity The Sixteen in collaboration with West Sussex Music, according to SussexWorld.
The workshop prepared students for a Spring 2027 concert called Sings Live, which will feature 10 primary and secondary schools across West Sussex, each invited to perform two songs, SussexWorld reported.
Curriculum Leader for Music Mr. Harrington said the school choir includes students from years 7 through 11 and meets twice weekly at lunchtime. He praised the ensemble’s dedication and professionalism, SussexWorld reported.
The choir is learning two classical vocal pieces for the concert: a work by Will Todd and a piece called Tallis Nightsong. Harrington said attempting classical repertoire pushes students beyond their comfort zone, SussexWorld reported.
The choir is also rehearsing for additional events including a school carol concert, Christmas lights switching-on in Felpham village, The Big Sing, and a spring concert, SussexWorld reported.
