A former music teacher in the Avon school district was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison after exchanging graphic sexual videos and pictures with underage girls on social media, WRTV reported. The case involves Kayvon Emtiaz, who admitted to police he engaged in sexual conversations with minors via Snapchat.
According to WRTV, Avon police received a CyberTip in September 2024 regarding suggestive media Emtiaz shared on two accounts. Officers stated one video appeared to show Emtiaz pleasuring himself in a music classroom, though the exact location remains unconfirmed. Detectives reviewed messages between Emtiaz and at least two underage girls, although investigators did not specify if the girls were students within the Avon district.
WRTV noted that during a November 2024 interview, Emtiaz admitted to the conversations but claimed he only saved images of individuals he believed were of legal age. Court documents cited by the station indicate Emtiaz was charged with 11 counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of child solicitation, and a count involving vicarious sexual gratification where a victim was under 14. Payroll records show Emtiaz worked at three Avon schools between 2019 and 2022, including Avon Intermediate School West. He has been registered as a sex offender for life.
