A Comox Valley music studio has established four bursaries for the 2026-27 academic year to help students cover lesson, program and college costs, the Comox Valley Record reported.
Con Moto Music Centre created separate awards for postsecondary study, youth music lessons, the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre's instrumental and choral programs, and students attending the Vancouver Community College School of Music.
The postsecondary bursary is open to Grade 12 students and recent School District 71 graduates pursuing music at a Canadian college or university. The youth-lessons award is available to families living in the Comox Valley whose children attend a district school and study with a local instructor. Another bursary will cover tuition for a student in a youth music center instrumental or choral program.
The studio said the awards are intended to reduce financial barriers at several points in a student's musical development, from private lessons through higher education.
