Texas Metro News reported that six students from Grambling State University’s World Famed Tiger Marching Band were selected for Urban Outfitters’ inaugural back-to-campus commercial. The campaign, titled “All Together Now,” features 76 students from more than 10 universities, with Grambling State serving as the only historically Black college or university represented.
Among the participants is Dale Marshall Jr., a music education major and former head drum major from Shreveport, Louisiana. Nikole Roebuck, director of bands at Grambling State, said such opportunities let students see where their talent, discipline and preparation can lead outside traditional performance settings. She expressed pride in the students for representing the university on a national platform during the band’s centennial year.
Filmed at Rutgers University’s SHI Stadium in New Jersey, the production brings together musicians, dancers and student-athletes to capture college game day energy. Marshall said stepping onto a national set to represent Grambling alongside students from other universities was special. He noted that the World Famed taught him to be prepared, disciplined and confident wherever an opportunity takes him. The commercial marks another chapter for the band as it celebrates 100 years of performances.
