Great Bend High School choir returns from Washington performance tour

Great Bend High School choir students returned to Kansas after a Washington, D.C., tour combining performances with visits to major cultural and historic sites.

The Great Bend Tribune reported that the choir sang at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Lincoln Memorial and Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

The itinerary also included monuments, Smithsonian museums, the National Archives, the Holocaust Museum, the National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon. Community and family fundraising helped make the trip possible, while parents traveled as sponsors.

The tour shows how a school choir can connect repertoire and performance with history, civic institutions and museums while relying on sustained local financial and logistical support.
