Essential Elements author Charlie Menghini, and Hal Leonard vice president Instrumental Publications and composer Paul Lavender have joined with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser to create the Essential Elements Band Talk podcast.

The goal was to provide encouragement, inspiration, and teaching tips to teachers through discussions of various relevant topics. Hal Leonard’s EEi expert Steve Smith joins to discuss how teachers can utilize Essential Elements Interactive in the classroom to connect with students and solve common problems. Each week guests—including current teachers, industry experts, and music education advocates—join the panel to provide a variety of perspectives on current music education practices, challenges, and other areas of interest.

“We realized that since all the in-person trade shows and clinics were canceled this year, we were missing out on that valuable person-to-person interaction that we all benefit from,” said Lavender. “We often learn just as much from talking to directors about their needs in the classroom and how we can help through Essential Elements and EEi. This podcast has provided us with as much great material as we hope it has to our audience. Our guests have presented fantastic ideas and stories about how they’ve navigated all the recent changes in education.”
