Hillcrest High choir joins Durban Symphonic Choir for milestone concert

The Citizen reported that the Hillcrest High School Choir and the Durban Symphonic Choir will unite for a collaborative concert marking 110 combined years of musical history. The event coincides with the school’s 50th anniversary and the symphonic group’s 60th year, bringing together distinct generations of singers in the Upper Highway community.

According to The Citizen, the program features sacred and classical traditions performed by the Durban Symphonic Choir, including excerpts from Mozart, Haydn, and Mendelssohn. The Hillcrest High School ensemble contributes traditional South African harmony and modern arrangements of songs by Curtis Mayfield, Pink, and Journey.

The report states that students and seasoned choristers will stand together for a massed finale performing shared choral favorites. The concert takes place on Sunday, August 23, at the Hillcrest High School Hall. Doors open at 14:30 for a 15:00 start. Tickets cost R100 per person and are available via Quicket or at the door.
