The Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music has launched its new academic year while marking its 70th anniversary, according to a report by Vietnam.vn. Dr. Do Quoc Hung, the institution’s director and a People’s Artist, highlighted the school’s evolution from the Saigon National School of Music, established in 1956, into an organization that has trained thousands of musicians, researchers, and arts administrators over seven decades.
During the opening ceremony, leadership outlined plans to maintain training quality across intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels while expanding scientific research and international cooperation. Dr. Hung stated that the conservatory aims to achieve official recognition for meeting educational quality standards in 2026, a milestone intended to improve governance and operational innovation. The curriculum continues to balance professional instruction with the preservation of traditional national music values.
Directors emphasized the necessity of discovering young talents and fostering their artistic integrity alongside technical skills. Students were advised that musical maturity requires discipline and perseverance rather than shortcuts. The event also included announcements regarding awards for a composition competition and commendations from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the previous academic year.
