Indonesian Choir Brings Peace Message to Italian Community

La Nazione reports that the Telkom University Choir from Indonesia performed in Ponticino, delivering a message of peace and demonstrating the educational power of choral music to the local community. The concert, part of the municipal summer festival, showcased young singers performing sacred chants and traditional Indonesian pieces with significant artistic intensity.

Mario Cassi, vice president of the Guido d’Arezzo Foundation, told attendees that choral singing serves as a vital tool for linking diverse cultures and sensitivities. He emphasized that when individual voices merge into harmony, inequalities are ideally broken down, offering a profound lesson for the community.

Alessandra Chighine, the local culture councilor, highlighted the event’s value for new generations, noting that polyphony teaches young people to listen to one another to create unity. She stated the youths became a symbol of peace and that supporting such activities offers young people a ‘passport to the world’.

The performance allowed the territory to strengthen the link with the prestigious International Polyphonic Competition, providing the community an opportunity for encounter and demonstrating universal musical language. The choir received well wishes for future competitions, with hopes that the experience will be a moment of growth and shared experience.
