Jennifer McKie has officially taken on the position of chief executive officer at Music Mark, beginning her tenure on August 17th. According to Music Mark, McKie’s appointment marks a significant development for the organization and the wider music education sector.
Having previously directed the Lincolnshire Music Service and Music Hub for nearly two decades, McKie brings considerable leadership experience to Music Mark. She described the transition as a new chapter, acknowledging initial anxieties that quickly subsided. McKie expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting she is enjoying the work and the welcoming atmosphere provided by both the team and Music Mark members.
McKie’s motivation for accepting the leadership role is rooted in personal experience. She emphasized that access to music education should not be determined by circumstance, recalling her own fortunate upbringing within a musically vibrant community. McKie hopes to leverage her experience to advance music education across the United Kingdom.
