Varsity Competitive Dance Coach
Sparta High School is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Varsity Competitive Dance Coach to lead and develop our competitive dance program.
Responsibilities
• Plan and lead practices, conditioning, and team activities.
• Develop choreography and prepare dancers for competitions and performances.
• Teach proper dance technique, strength, flexibility, and performance skills.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and academic success.
• Supervise student-athletes at practices, competitions, and team events.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and athletic administration.
• Follow all district, athletic department, and MHSAA policies and requirements.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in competitive dance, coaching, teaching, or team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of dance technique, choreography, conditioning, and competition preparation.
• Experience working with high school-aged dancers preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to student-athlete safety, development, and success.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
Successful candidates must meet all applicable Sparta Public Schools, MHSAA, and State of Michigan coaching requirements, including required background checks and training.
Compensation
Compensation is based on the Sparta Public Schools coaching salary schedule and applicable district policies.
