The Vocal Music Teacher creates lively, engaging vocal learning environments for students in Grades 1–5, fostering children‘s love of singing and nurturing their musical sensibility. The teacher develops age-appropriate vocal curricula, delivers structured singing lessons, and leads stage performances aligned with young learners’ cognitive abilities, aiming to strengthen students‘ vocal techniques, pitch accuracy, and music appreciation.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
• Deliver vocal music classes for Grades 1–5.
• Develop curricula, lesson plans, and assessment systems.
• Create and organize teaching materials (sheet music, backing tracks, videos, etc.).
• Conduct formative assessments and write student reports/comments.
• Identify gifted students and prepare them for concerts and performances.
• Deliver demo lessons for open days and admissions.
• Integrate English songs and bilingual instruction into daily teaching.
• Share class highlights via WeChat and video platforms.
Moral Education
• Establish classroom routines and enforce discipline.
• Promote teamwork, respect, and stage etiquette through group singing.
• Nurture students‘ confidence, perseverance, and emotional expression.
Collaboration & Communication
• Work with department colleagues on cross-grade events.
• Communicate constructively with supervisors, peers, and parents.
Miscellaneous
• Participate in open days and school events.
• Maintain classroom environment (temperature, ventilation, cleanliness).
• Adapt flexibly to unexpected changes.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Vocal Performance, Music Education, or Performing Arts preferred.
• Certification: Valid Foreign Expert Certificate + work visa (for China); TESOL/TEFL/CELTA, IB/PYP certification, or professional vocal performance certificates highly preferred.
• Experience: More than 2 years in an international/bilingual school (vocal teaching or homeroom); IB PYP experience preferred.
• Professional Competencies: Knowledge of international education principles; ability to design and deliver UOI courses and differentiated instruction; cross-cultural classroom management; proficiency with teaching tools and materials development; strong collaboration skills.
• Professionalism: Abide by China‘s education laws and school rules; align with school philosophy; responsible, patient, and adaptable; innovative and solution-oriented; strong team spirit.
• Language: Fluent English proficiency; basic Chinese is a plus.
