ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Come is are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Teache of Performing Arts to join our creative arts department as soon as possible for a maternity cover.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that nurture students’ confidence, imagination, and performance skills, while aligning with the IB Diploma Programme frameworks. You will play a key role in shaping a vibrant performing arts culture within the school community.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

This is a particularly exciting time to join the International School of Como (ISC), as it has has completed an expansion project set to increase the student body from 400 to approximately 650 in the coming years. ISC is a recognized IB World School, authorized to offer the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum: Primary Years Programme (PYP, ages 3-11), Middle Years Programme (MYP, ages 11-16), Diploma Programme (DP, ages 16-18) and Careers Program (CP, ages 16-18). This will suit candidates who would like to make the most of the additional career advancement opportunities that come with a growing school.

ISC is in a superb purpose-built campus in Fino Mornasco, 6km south of Lake Como. Our spacious, modern campus is beautifully designed, equipped with state-of-the-art science labs, a well-resourced library, studios for visual arts, drama, three music spaces and a theatre. The campus also features specially designed early years spaces that support our Reggio-Inspired Early Years Curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Drama lessons in line with the IB philosophy.

• Inspire students to explore creativity, collaboration, and expression through performance and theatre.

• Contribute to interdisciplinary projects and productions that enhance the school’s creative life.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of diverse learners.

• Organise and direct school performances, assemblies, and community arts events.

• Collaborate with colleagues to promote the arts within the broader curriculum.

• Participate in professional learning to further develop IB and performing arts pedagogy.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

• A bachelor’s degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.

• Experience teaching Drama within the IB MYP and Diploma Programme.

• A strong commitment to fostering creativity, confidence, and teamwork in students.

• Excellent communication, organisation, and collaboration skills.

• Enthusiasm for contributing to the wider life of the school through performances and cultural events.

• Valid EU passport and work permit.
