Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

The Opportunity:
Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School, in partnership with the Visual and Performing Arts Department, seeks a confident, creative, culturally responsive, social-justice-oriented, and compassionate teaching artist to lead and enhance the vision for an already vibrant dance program. The Dance teacher will teach grades 9-12 dance classes, including Dance 1, Dance 2, and Modern Dance Company. All dance class teaching includes choreographic skills. The Dance Teacher collaborates with a second full-time Dance teacher. The Dance teacher will report both to the Principal and the Director of the Visual and Performing Arts Department (VPA).
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Dance classes, integrating choreographic skills, to grades 9-12
• Provide an overview of Dance and its various genres
• Supervise and mentor students in student-directed dances
• Teach a rigorous and balanced standards-based dance curriculum
• Demonstrate dance skills and a wide variety of techniques
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Demonstrate flexibility and compassion, while maintaining high expectations for student achievement
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
• Employ instructional methods that motivate students to continue to pursue study in the dance community
• Collaborate with school faculty to develop an interdisciplinary curriculum and work with challenging students
• Organize and participate ina dance show to showcase student work on and off campus
• Contribute to departmental and school-wide curriculum projects and other initiatives
• Steward the careful use of supplies, equipment, and teaching resources and knowledge.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Dance Teacher, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
• 2+ years’ experience leading dance instruction in an urban, multicultural setting in 9-12.
• Culturally responsive educator with a strong sense of social justice and equity.
• High degree of comfort working with colleagues to build and refine engaging, standards-based learning experiences that are responsive to the needs and interests of the communities you serve.
• Collaborative disposition, eager to partner with classroom teachers, VPA staff, and other team members in the district on behalf of our students and families.
• Excellent classroom management skills and use appropriate, authentic assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and adjust practice to meet the needs of all students.
• Strong organizational skills, setting up structures that allow you to manage your own work effectively and position colleagues for success.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Massachusetts Licensure for Dance required
