The role

The current Director of Music is very experienced and will offer great support in helping the successful candidate to make a success of this role. The job has two clear stands, the proficient teaching of music in class across the age range, and energetic leadership of various co-curricular activities in the Department, as appropriate to the new, temporary Teacher of Music’s skill set. The School

With its origins in the 13th Century, the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, was granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1562. Much has changed since, but RGS continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the leading state selective schools in the country having been consistently rated ‘outstanding’.

We have high academic standards, excellent examination results and consistently feature as one of the top 60 state schools in England. Almost all students progress to university with approximately 14 attending Oxford or Cambridge each academic year. We offer a huge range of co-curricular experiences, the extent of which is, I believe, unparalleled in the state sector.

Our innovative teachers deliver a high-quality classroom experience underpinned by our RGS Ethos of Learning. Exceptional pastoral care ensures that, in a large school, every student is known as an individual.

We encourage all Wycombiensians to be self-confident, positive, healthy and enquiring young men who acquire the qualities of tolerance and respectfulness embodied through a modesty of manner.

Most of our students are day students. Boarding, however, has a unique capacity to shape the lives of young people and RGS offers this provision to 70 boys as one of 40 state boarding schools. Boarding plays a substantial role within the life of the School.

To see the full range of activities undertaken at the school, we would encourage you to visit our website - https://www.rgshw.com/

Closing date: 8am, Monday 24 September 2026.

The Royal Grammar School is committed to promoting the safety and welfare of all pupils. Appointment is conditional upon at least two satisfactory references. All staff are required, before taking up post, to undertake an enhanced criminal record check through DBS.

Headmaster: Mr Philip Wayne

Opportunity and Market

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom has 1 linked active ArtistPro listing. National population supplies scale, but it does not establish city-level demand. [1]

Career Outlook

The national unemployment indicator provides broad context only. Occupation- and city-specific demand was unavailable from a validated jurisdictional dataset, so Career Opportunity and Career Safety scores are omitted. [3]

Compensation

GDP per capita is included solely as national economic context. It is not a salary-equivalency or purchasing-power calculation, and the listing’s currency, taxes, pension and contract terms must be verified. [2]

Housing and Cost of Living

Validated city-level housing and rent data were unavailable in this automated run. Candidates should use official or regulated local housing sources and avoid treating national economic indicators as rent estimates.

Commute

Validated city-level commute and transportation-cost data were unavailable. Confirm the exact worksite, transit availability and commuting rules with the employer before relocating.

Community Snapshot

United Kingdom national population and economic indicators provide country context; they do not support neighborhood-level claims about safety, culture or community fit. [1] [2]

Local Economy

The national unemployment and GDP-per-capita indicators describe the broader economy, not the city or employer. [3] [2]

Relocation Considerations

Work authorization, healthcare eligibility and tax obligations are jurisdiction-specific and can determine whether the role is viable. Use the official linked resources and confirm sponsorship directly with the employer. [4] [5] [6]

What I Wish I'd Known Before Taking the Job

A job offer does not itself prove visa eligibility, sponsorship, healthcare access or net take-home pay. Confirm all four before paying relocation costs. [4] [5] [6]

Methodology

This report uses World Bank national indicators and official jurisdictional resources. City-level figures and scores are omitted where authoritative data were not acquired.
