RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sound Design & Live Audio:
• Audio Mixing: Mix live performances, balancing student vocalists, soloists, instrumentalists, and electronic playback.
• System Management: Establish proper microphone assignments, placement, gain structure, EQ, dynamics, effects, and ensemble blend.
• Console Programming: Develop and maintain show files, scenes, snapshots, and routing.
• Acoustic Adaptation: Run sound checks and adapt configurations to the equipment and acoustical challenges of various venues.
• Maintenance: Troubleshoot microphones, wireless systems, consoles, monitors, and cabling quickly.
Band Consulting & Musical Production:
• Collaboration: Partner with directors, arrangers, and musicians regarding instrumentation and overall show sound.
• Technical Input: Advise on amplification, electronic instruments, patches, click tracks, and acoustic/electronic balance.
• Production Elements: Consult on musical transitions, underscoring, and sound effects to maintain consistent sound quality.
Lighting Design:
• Concept Development: Design lighting looks, cues, transitions, and special effects that support the show's emotional arc and choreography.
• Programming: Program or supervise the programming of lighting consoles, adapting designs to various venue limitations.
• Documentation: Create clear cue sheets and technical data to communicate efficiently with festival and venue staff.
Technical & Production Coordination:
• Production Planning: Participate in production meetings to develop timelines, anticipate technical needs, and assist with budgeting, purchasing, or rentals.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate input lists, patch sheets, equipment lists, and stage plots.
• Logistics & Travel: Prepare systems for travel; develop safe, efficient setup/strike procedures within competition time limits.
Student Education & Leadership:
• Training: Train interested students in sound, lighting, equipment management, and general stagecraft.
• Safety & Standards: Model professional standards and promote safe practices regarding electricity, cabling, staging, and heavy equipment.
Qualifications:
• Essential Qualifications:
• Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position
• Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Live Audio: Strong background in live sound reinforcement, digital mixing consoles, and wireless microphone systems.
• Lighting & Production: Experience with concert lighting design, DMX-based systems, and staging logistics.
• Music Literacy: Ability to read musical scores and understand musical terminology, form, and dynamics.
• Environment: Prior experience in theatrical productions, show choir, marching arts, or competitive dance environments.
