About the Role

Aldenham Prep Riyadh is seeking an inspiring, enthusiastic and highly skilled Music Teacher to join our Performing Arts team.

This is an exciting dual role across both the school and our Music Academy, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to deliver high-quality curriculum Music while also developing pupils' instrumental skills through individual and small-group tuition.

The successful candidate will be passionate about developing musicianship, creativity and performance confidence, while helping to make Music a visible and valued part of school life.

The Role

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England and the school's curriculum.

• Develop pupils' skills in listening, singing, performing, composing, notation and musical understanding.

• Introduce pupils to a broad and culturally diverse range of musical styles, traditions and instruments.

• Assess pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.

• Lead or support choirs, ensembles, bands, concerts, recitals, productions and other school performances.

• Provide instrumental tuition within their area of expertise.

• Identify and nurture musical talent while encouraging participation from pupils of all abilities.

• Contribute actively to the school's co-curricular Music programme and wider Performing Arts provision.

• Prepare pupils for practical and theory examinations, including Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations.

Instrumental Teaching Requirements

In addition to the curriculum teaching expectations, candidates should:

• Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Violin or Piano, ideally both.

• Have more than two years' experience teaching their instrument.

• Be confident preparing pupils for ABRSM practical and theory examinations.

• Have strong music-theory knowledge and the ability to appropriately challenge and extend pupils.

• Be confident delivering one-to-one and small-group instrumental lessons.

• Demonstrate strong musicianship, rehearsal and performance skills.

Successful candidates will be invited to complete a trial instrumental teaching session in school or may be asked to provide video evidence of small-group or one-to-one instrumental teaching as part of the selection process.

About You

We are looking for a Music educator who is inspirational, energetic, patient, collaborative and committed to providing an inclusive and ambitious musical education.

Essential requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education or a closely related field.

• Recognised teaching qualification with QTS or equivalent.

• At least three years of successful Music teaching experience.

• Proficiency in at least one principal instrument, with Violin and/or Piano strongly sought for this position.

• More than two years' experience providing instrumental tuition.

• Strong understanding of classroom Music pedagogy and assessment.

• Excellent communication, organisation and rehearsal skills.

• Ability to contribute to ensembles, performances and the wider musical life of the school.

Experience within a British or international school, preparing pupils for ABRSM examinations, teaching a second instrument, or leading ensembles and performances would be highly desirable.
