We are seeking applicants for the position of Bilingual Early Years Performing Arts Teacher, reporting to Lower School Sectional Principals.

A strong and positive collaborative partnership with the Homeroom Teachers is pivotal to the success of all young learners. Using both English and Mandarin Chinese, the Bilingual Early Years Performing Arts Teachers will collaboratively create, develop, and lead age-appropriate activities and instruction to our youngest learners to support and foster identified Early Childhood domains of development - notably language acquisition and physical (gross and fine motor) development - under the Early Years curriculum framework.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with Homeroom Teachers and the school management to establish an embedded culture of performing arts as a fundamentally necessary in successful Early Childhood development.

• Create, develop and teach age-appropriate performing arts lessons and activities.

• Collaboratively partner and support the Homeroom Teachers in the establishment of a learning culture which welcomes performing arts instruction as a seamless and integral of development.

• Establish a safe and nurturing learning culture where all children are valued, capable and loved.

• Collaborate with the Homeroom Teachers on resource preparations classroom set-up, and lesson planning which allows performing arts activities to support the ongoing grade themes.

• Lead the planning and execution of performing arts activities on special occasions including holiday celebrations and birthdays.

• Lead smaller groups of students in learning activities for introducing concepts, re-teaching, reinforcing or enhancing lessons through the medium of performing arts.

• Maintain a clean, orderly and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety guidelines before and after activities and under aesthetically pleasing standards.

• Contribute fully to the broader Early Years team by supporting day-to-day activities, routines and needs.

• Cooperatively work with all staff and school personnel to positively advocate and articulate the CDNIS bilingual vision and mission for the purpose of promoting the school and recruitment of future students and families.

• Lead and collaborate in after school extra-curricular performing arts activities and initiatives that might span across all grade levels in Lower School, as directed by the Director of Visual and Performing Arts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• Expertise and knowledge of performing arts education for young children

• At least 2 years full-time experience within a similar student age group

• Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, including Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi Cat 2 Level 2 (highly regarded)

• Hong Kong QKT/ECE qualification (preferred)

• IBPYP experience (preferred)

• Flexible, confident, resourceful and collaborative attitude and willingness to work across teachers, classrooms and student groupings.

• Genuine interest and belief in the potential and benefits of a robust dual language programme for young learners

• Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills

• Experience leading performing arts extra-curricular activities in a wider school context with students of all age groups

• Piano skills desired but not essential

Mandatory Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must pass a standard pre-employment health screening.

• Must pass a Sexual Records Conviction check conducted by the HK Police Department.

• Authorization to contact references and previous employers.
