Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Music across the whole College, setting the vision, curriculum and standards for teaching and learning.

• Build and lead a high-quality Music department, including visiting instrumental and vocal teachers.

• Teach Music across all key stages, including IGCSE Music and IB Diploma Music.

• Develop pupils' musicianship through performance, composition, listening, theory and analysis.

• Lead a vibrant co-curricular programme of choirs, orchestras, bands and ensembles for pupils of all abilities.

• Plan and deliver an ambitious annual programme of concerts, recitals, performances and musical events.

• Foster a culture where music is visible and celebrated throughout the life of the College.

• Manage departmental budgets, resources, music technology, rehearsal spaces and instruments.

• Support pupils pursuing music scholarships, conservatoires and leading university pathways.

• Contribute fully to the pastoral, academic and wider life of the College.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music or conservatoire training, with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

• Strong performance credentials with a first-study instrument or voice and the ability to accompany and direct ensembles.

• Experience of leading a department or holding significant responsibility within a school setting.

• Experience teaching GCSE/IGCSE Music and ideally the IB Diploma Programme.

• Ability to lead choirs, orchestras and ensembles to a high standard.

• Experience managing visiting music teachers is highly desirable.

• Confidence using music technology, notation and recording software.

• International school experience or an international outlook is desirable.

• Italian language skills are desirable but not essential.

• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
