Help talented young musicians find their rhythm

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Peripatetic Drum Teacher to join the Faculty of Performing Arts at New College Pontefract.

You will work closely with students to develop their technical ability, musicianship, confidence and performance skills through engaging weekly tuition. Alongside planning and delivering drum sessions, you will provide clear feedback and advice, identify areas where students can progress and develop strategies that enable them to perform at their best.

An important part of the role is helping young people develop confidence and self-belief through music. You will act as a positive role model and work collaboratively with teaching staff and the Head of Faculty to support students’ progress.

The role runs from September to July and will normally involve working 1–2 days each week, with specific days and hours arranged around student timetables.

About you

You will bring specialist knowledge of drums and the ability to teach your instrument to a high standard with enthusiasm and commitment. Just as importantly, you will know how to motivate young people, adapt your approach to different students and create an encouraging environment in which they can develop.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent and possess excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be reliable, punctual, flexible and comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team. Previous successful teaching experience and experience working with young people are desirable.
