Give young performers the confidence to find their voice

New College Pontefract is seeking an inspiring Peripatetic Singing Teacher to join our Faculty of Performing Arts and support students in developing their vocal technique, performance skills and confidence.

You will plan and deliver weekly singing sessions, giving students constructive feedback and practical advice to help them improve. By recognising individual strengths and areas for development, you will introduce appropriate strategies that enable each student to progress and achieve their potential.

Beyond technical development, you will encourage confidence, self-belief and a positive approach to performance, helping students use music as a means of both personal and social development. You will also work closely with colleagues across the college and act as a positive role model for the young people you teach.

The post operates annually from September to July, normally across 1–2 days per week, with the precise working pattern agreed around student timetables.

About you

You will have specialist knowledge of singing and the ability to teach to a high standard with enthusiasm, commitment and sensitivity to the needs of individual students.

You will be confident communicating with young people aged 16–19 and able to inspire and motivate them while maintaining high standards. Strong organisation, reliability, flexibility and an empathetic approach are essential. A degree or equivalent qualification is required, while successful previous teaching experience, experience of working with young people and the ability to teach a second instrument are desirable.
