Inspire the next generation of musicians

New College Pontefract is looking for an enthusiastic and accomplished Peripatetic Piano Teacher to join our Faculty of Performing Arts and help our students develop their confidence, technique and enjoyment of music.

Working with students on an individual and potentially group basis, you will plan and deliver engaging weekly piano sessions tailored to their ability and aspirations. You will provide constructive feedback, identify areas for development and introduce strategies that help students progress and realise their potential. The role also provides an opportunity to support students’ wider personal development through music, building confidence, self-belief and discipline.

The role operates annually from September to July, normally across 1–2 days per week, with exact days and hours agreed according to student timetables.

About you

You will have specialist knowledge of piano and the ability to teach to a high standard with enthusiasm and commitment. You will be an engaging and supportive teacher who can inspire and motivate young people, communicate effectively and act as a positive role model.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with strong organisational skills, reliability and a flexible approach to your work. Previous successful teaching experience and experience of working with young people are desirable, as is the ability to teach a second instrument.
