Head  of Music

Job Overview:

Wellington College International School Almaty (formerly Haileybury Almaty) is much more than the leading academic school in Almaty; it is a community that focuses on High Performance Learning. Founded in 2008, the School provides an outstanding holistic education and is a fully accredited member of COBIS and FOBISIA.

Important note: During the 2026/27 academic year, the school will continue to operate under the Haileybury Almaty name and brand. From summer 2027, the school will transition to the Wellington College International brand. For our teachers, this means the opportunity to join us at a particularly exciting moment - becoming part of the school’s next chapter from the very beginning.

Located within the city of Almaty, a hidden gem in Central Asia, the city is a beautiful, lively, modern, family-friendly city with a rich cultural life, situated near the stunning Tien Shan Mountains. Kazakhstan is a diverse and fascinating country, relatively unknown but loved by so many who visit.

As a school, we have a strong focus on academic progress and achievement and pupil leadership is at the very heart of our ethos. When families join Wellington College International School Almaty they become lifelong members of a school which puts the learner at the centre of everything.

Our not-for-profit status means we continually reinvest for the future development of the school. The high-quality teaching and excellent extra- curricular provision make the School a very special place to work.

We offer an experience that is based on international, British curriculum and Kazakh curricula, catering for children aged from four to eighteen. Pupils work in an environment where they are stretched and challenged, and have their expectations raised to achieve outstanding progress and outcomes. Our Senior pupils prepare for the IGCSE and the A Level programmes, and our Sixth Form leavers go on to achieve places at world class universities across the Ivy League, Russell Group and rest of the world. This success is a result of the strong partnership between the school, our pupils and their parents through our shared commitment.

We seek inspirational teachers who have a passion for their subject area, our wider Co-Curricular Activities programme and are keen to develop professionally as part of a driven, kind and supportive community. Above all we want committed and dedicated teachers who are aligned with our vision, and who wish to make a difference to the lives of the pupils in our care.

Wellington College International School Almaty invites applications from well-qualified, inspirational teachers for the following position Head of Music, to start from August 2027.

Strong ability and experience of teaching Music. Experience in teaching learners for whom English is not their first language preferred.

The School offers a competitive tax-paid salary, accommodation, baggage allowance, medical insurance, gratuity, pension contributions, and annual flights.
