Inspire the next generation of musicians

New College Pontefract is looking for an enthusiastic and accomplished Peripatetic Brass Teacher to join our Performing Arts Faculty and help talented young musicians develop their confidence, technique and enjoyment of music.

Working with students on an individual and small-group basis, you will plan and deliver engaging instrumental sessions, provide constructive feedback and identify the strategies that will help each student reach their potential. You will also encourage confidence, self-belief and discipline, using music as an important part of students’ wider personal and social development.

The role will normally involve working one to two days per week during the academic year, from September to July, with sessions arranged around student timetables in liaison with the Head of Faculty.

About you

You will have specialist knowledge of your instrument and the ability to teach to a high standard with enthusiasm and commitment. You will be able to inspire and motivate young people, communicate effectively with students and colleagues, and act as a positive role model and ambassador for the Trust. A degree or equivalent qualification is required, while previous experience of teaching and working with young people is desirable. The ability to teach a second instrument would also be welcomed.

You will also bring excellent organisational skills, reliability and a supportive, empathetic approach to working with students aged 16–19. Above all, you will share our commitment to helping young people develop, achieve and enjoy their music.
