Welcome to Prairie!

The College Community School District's programs are located on an 800 acre site on the SW side of Cedar Rapids. The central campus site is unique for a district our size and source of great pride. The Prairie campus consists of five elementary schools (K-4), an intermediate school (5-6), middle school (7-9), high school (10-12), Early Childhood Center, and three off-site programs. The College Community School District serves 5,800 students from Linn, Benton, and Johnson counties. The 137 square mile district includes the cities of Ely, Fairfax, Shueyville, Swisher, Walford and SW Cedar Rapids.

We take great pride in our parent and community support. This support and active engagement in our schools and district is high valued. We strive to develop close relationships with students and parents so that our students feel safe and connected. We take great pride in our Prairie schools which are made up of great staff, high performing students, supportive parents, and community members who value the importance of a quality education. In addition, the support of our community through the passing of a bond referendum has allowed us to expand and remodel our current buildings, build a new 5/6 building which opened in the fall of 2023, and our new 9th Grade Center and Delta site that opened in the fall of 2024.

The College Community School District's vision of "Success for All" is the foundation of the District's personalized learning system. Personalized learning is a progressively learner-driven model in which learners deeply engage in meaningful, authentic, and rigorous challenges to demonstrate desired outcomes. Our teachers collaborate to design learning environments that are equitable, engaging, and empowering by providing students with opportunities for voice, co-creation, social construction, and self-discovery. A combination of targeted instruction, data-driven decisions, flexible content and tools, and student reflection and ownership ensures that each student receives what they need when they need it.

In addition, the College Community School District recognizes the importance of education beyond high school and strive to prepare our students for success in their post-secondary education/training choices. This includes the essential skills and competencies that along with postsecondary education/training prepares our students for success in their future careers.

Benefits of being a teacher at College Community also include, but are not limited to:

Rockwell, IA, USA Location Report

View this location on OpenStreetMap →

Opportunity and Market

Rockwell, IA, USA is evaluated with current IA labor-market evidence because a validated city profile was unavailable. The Census API city profile could not be acquired in this run; the report uses current state labor-market observations and labels their scope explicitly. [2] [3]

Career Outlook

The statewide unemployment rate supplies current labor-market context, but it does not prove demand for this occupation or employer. Occupation-specific scores are omitted. [1]

Compensation

No salary-equivalency or take-home-pay figure is asserted without listing pay and defensible local cost inputs. Federal tax brackets must be applied to the candidate’s actual filing circumstances. [4]

Housing and Cost of Living

HUD Fair Market Rent resources are provided for a housing comparison using the verified worksite or its county. No city rent is asserted when it was not acquired. [5]

Commute

A validated city commute value was unavailable. Confirm the exact worksite, schedule, transit coverage, parking and fuel costs before accepting relocation expenses.

Community Snapshot

State labor-force scale is not evidence of neighborhood safety, culture or community fit; no such inference is made. [3]

Local Economy

Current statewide employment, labor-force and unemployment observations describe the broader labor environment, not a guaranteed city or occupation outcome. [2] [3] [1]

Relocation Considerations

Verify worksite-level housing, commute, taxes, utilities, benefits, contract length and any remote-work restrictions before relocating. [5] [4]

What I Wish I'd Known Before Taking the Job

A healthy statewide labor market does not guarantee that a specialized music education role is easy to replace. Confirm contract stability, nearby housing and the real commute before paying relocation costs. [2] [1]

Methodology

This report uses the latest retrievable BLS Local Area Unemployment Statistics for the listing’s state. It explicitly withholds city, occupation and affordability scores when those inputs were not acquired.
