Jordan School District reported that students and staff at Majestic Elementary Arts Academy recently experienced a unique educational concert through the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation’s Music-in-Our-Schools outreach program. This initiative places Steinway grand pianos and professional concert pianists directly into school settings to enhance student access to live classical music.
The district stated that the performance featured award-winning pianist Misha Galant, who previously competed as a quarterfinalist and semifinalist in the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition. Galant performed classical selections by Tchaikovsky, Schubert, and George Gershwin, demonstrating how instrumental music conveys emotion and narrative without lyrics. Following each piece, the program encouraged students to ask questions about the compositions, fostering direct interaction between young learners and a professional artist.
According to the Jordan District announcement, the Music-in-Our-Schools program introduces live classical piano performances to between 20,000 and 25,000 Utah students annually. The district credited the foundation and Galant with providing Majestic Elementary Arts Academy students a rich and memorable music education experience that supports their artistic development within the school curriculum.
