The Juilliard School hosted team members from ILIO on May 10 to present the Vienna Symphonic Library products to its composition students.
Both undergraduate composition students and graduate students were able to attend, and guests were treated to a presentation of scores created in Avid’s Sibelius scoring software and rendered as musical performances using the Vienna Symphonic Library’s orchestral sounds and instrument software.
Wayne Oquin, a professor of theory and graduate studies and chair of Juilliard’s ear training department, hosted the event.
“The room was packed with young composers, many of whom will graduate next week. We also had a fair amount of adults invited from Juilliard’s Evening Division,” Oquin says. “ILIO’s Daniel Hange and Roger Mawer were fantastic–consummate professionals. The presentation was very informed and inspired. Afterward, they stayed around to answer questions from the students.”
