Kee Named 2026 Arkansas Bandmaster of the Year

Jeff Kee, Director of Bands at Don Tyson School of Innovation (DTSOI), has been named the 2026 Arkansas Bandmaster of the Year, Camdenarknews.com reported. The award recognizes outstanding band directors who demonstrate leadership, excellence in music education, and a lasting impact on students and fellow educators.

Kee, a 1996 graduate of Southern Arkansas University, has spent 29 years developing band programs and fostering a culture of excellence. His career includes previous roles in the Texarkana Arkansas School District, Camden Fairview School District, and Russellville School District.

While leading the Camden Fairview band program, Kee’s marching bands earned multiple Grand Champion titles and represented Arkansas in the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade. During his time in Russellville, the band program saw record numbers of students selected for Region and All-State bands, and the Ninth Grade Symphonic Band was selected as an Arkansas State Honor Band.

At DTSOI, Kee has continued this tradition of excellence, with ensembles earning recognition as Arkansas Reserve State Concert Band Champions and Arkansas State Honor Ensembles. His students consistently achieve individual honors and pursue musical studies at colleges and universities.

Beyond the classroom, Kee has mentored young directors, served as an adjudicator, and contributed to professional organizations dedicated to advancing instrumental music education. He and his wife, Cindy, lead the music department at DTSOI, and their daughter, Allison, is an elementary music teacher in Conway.
