Lois Frankel Updates Bestseller Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office

Leadership expert Lois Frankel released a fully updated 2026 edition of her New York Times bestseller Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office. The book delivers strategies for building credibility, self-advocating and avoiding mistakes that can derail careers before they gain momentum.

Frankel said workplace success often depends on understanding dynamics nobody teaches before entering the real world. This reality hits hard during the first 90 days when new hires are evaluated for competence, confidence, communication style, executive presence and perceived leadership potential.

The revised third edition addresses AI-driven workplace disruption, corporate gaslighting and challenges faced by women of color. It covers cultural shifts including the Me Too movement, gender fluidity, remote work, the dismantling of DEI programs and the erosion of women’s reproductive rights.

Frankel shares strategies used to coach Fortune 500 leaders. She advises women to be active listeners by paraphrasing for understanding, build relationships before needing favors, learn how decisions are made and ask questions without apologizing for asking them. She also recommends identifying and eliminating nice girl habits that undermine authority.

Nice is necessary, but not sufficient, Frankel said. You have the power to take control of your career without being controlling, to speak your mind while still being respectful, and to chase your ambitions without fear or shame.

Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make that Sabotage Their Careers (Revised third Edition) is published by Balance, an imprint of Hachette Book Group USA. The release date was March 3, 2026. The ISBN-13 is 978-1538776391.

The book is available from major retailers including Amazon. Frankel has worked with corporate giants around the globe, including Amgen, BP, Microsoft, the Walt Disney Company and the World Bank. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California.
