Loyola music Business Program earns Billboard honor for sixth year

Loyola University New Orleans’ School of Music and Theatre Professions has been named to Billboard’s 2026 list of Top Music Business Schools, extending its streak to six consecutive years, Biz New Orleans reported.

The recognition, announced in Billboard’s Oct. 3 issue, places Loyola alongside programs at American University, the Abbey Road Institute in London, Tennessee State University and UCLA. Billboard said its annual list is based on industry recommendations, alumni information, reporting on music education and information provided by the schools, and does not rank the selected programs.

Kate Duncan, director of the School of Music and Theatre Professions, said the school has rebuilt its curriculum around problem-solving skills, entrepreneurial drive and human relationships, giving students opportunities to run businesses, generate revenue, work with clients and build professional networks from New Orleans to Los Angeles and London.

Billboard cited the school’s launch of Wolf Moon Entertainment, a university-embedded umbrella organization of seven student-run businesses that integrates revenue generation, technology and design into the newly renamed Bachelor of Science in Music Business program. The school also launched a 4+1 degree partnership with its Master of Business Administration program and offers London Summer Music Industry and Hollywood programs.

Sheryl Kennedy Haydel, dean of the College of Music and Media, said students graduate with confidence, creativity, connections and experience to build meaningful careers in the music industry.
