According to the company, this integration pairs the generative capabilities of Sight Reading Studio with the established pedagogy of Alfred Music’s vocal method to create a comprehensive tool for vocal education.
The new feature allows educators to bypass hours of weekly preparation by accessing pre-made templates that align directly with specific lessons in Beck’s method, covering ranges from whole notes to complex sixteenth-note patterns. MakeMusic states that unlike static printed books, the software can generate unlimited new exercises that strictly adhere to the skill level of a specific lesson, preventing students from simply memorizing previous answers.
During rehearsals, directors can project these exercises for the entire ensemble while adjusting tempos and toggling accompaniment tracks in real time. For individual practice, the company notes that teachers can assign tailored templates to specific sections or students through the cloud platform. MakeMusic explains that when students record their assignments at home, the system provides immediate visual feedback on pitch accuracy and rhythm, helping struggling readers gain reinforcement while keeping advanced singers challenged.
