We are very excited to announce the debut of Modern Band Journal, a supplement to SBO, which will be published six times per year. This first issue is in the mail now with all copies of the January issue of School Band & Orchestra Magazine. This is an important new avenue for teaching music to students in K-12, the majority of whom are not participants in traditional instrumental and vocal programs. And that said, many traditional music program students also join modern band classes or clubs to augment their music experience in school.
In cooperation with Little Kids Rock, and myriad music educators around the USA, we have created two Advisory Boards. Our academic advisors include :Dave Wish , Dr. Scott Burstein, Dr. Martina Vasil, Dr.Robert W. Smith, Scott Sheehan, Shemeka Nash, Dr.Kevin Droe, Dr. Patricia Foy, Dr. Sarah Gulish.
Our Artist Advisory Board includes: Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC), Steven Van Zandt, Pierce Freelon, Linda Perry, Lzzy Hale, Karen O, and Joan Jett.
