A music teacher in the village of Scoreni, Moldova, continues to engage students in music education after a 50-year career, Moldova 1 reported. Maria Vinițchi began her career five decades ago, teaching French and serving as principal of the local secondary school, now reorganized into a lyceum. She remained active in the classroom even after retiring.
Vinițchi told Moldova 1 that she cannot imagine life without being among students and previously stayed at school until 2:00 AM implementing projects. Students described her music lessons as interesting and said they look forward to using musical instruments to play and learn, according to Moldova 1.
The broadcaster reported that Vinițchi organized a choir and led students in various festivals. A former student, now a physical education teacher, recalled singing in that choir and said Vinițchi’s piano playing inspired her. Vinițchi said each generation of students differs and that the greatest challenge is sparking and maintaining their curiosity, Moldova 1 reported. Some former students pursued teaching careers and became her colleagues.
Moldova 1 noted that more than 45,000 teaching and management staff work in Moldova’s education system.
