A Monticello High School senior bassoonist has earned selection to two prestigious New York state honor ensembles, highlighting the strength of the school’s performing arts program. The Monticello Central School District reported that Jovi Roosa will perform with the Area All-State Symphony Orchestra on November 20-21 at Liberty High School, joining top student musicians from Sullivan, Orange, Ulster, Rockland and Greene Counties.
Weeks later, Roosa will perform in the All-State Wind Ensemble during the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester, the district reported. The selection follows her perfect score of 100 on a prepared solo audition at last year’s NYSSMA Solo Festival, according to the district.
The district noted that thousands of music students across New York State audition for these ensembles each year, making selection a significant achievement for both the student and her school’s music curriculum. Roosa’s participation in the Area All-State Symphony Orchestra and All-State Wind Ensemble reflects the ensemble training and solo preparation supported by Monticello’s music educators.
The Monticello High School Performing Arts Department expressed pride in Roosa’s continued accomplishments and anticipation for her performances in these elite statewide ensembles.
